PARABOLIC PAST
Don Rogers, Chief Picker and Editor of the Parabolic Stock Picker, is Managing Director of
Parabolic Management Group, an investment research firm based in San Francisco, CA. He made his
first stock investment while in college but, because he was too young, the brokerage account had to
be opened in his roommate’s name – hey Steve, whatever happened to those shares of Elixir
Industries anyway? Don holds a BS in Management Science from Carnegie-Mellon University and an
MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Mr. Rogers has over 25 years of finance, investment, operations and systems experience with large
and start-up organizations. Prior to starting Parabolic Management Group, he was a Managing
Director for Shott Capital Management, an employee-owned investment advisory firm that
specializes in venture capital partnerships and management of the small capitalization public stocks
resulting from these venture funds.
Before joining the investment industry a decade ago, Don Rogers was a member of the founding
team for Merit Behavioral Care, a venture-backed healthcare management company. In seven years, he
served as Controller, VP of Management Information Systems and VP of Clinical Information
Services, while helping grow revenue from $2 million to $300 million annually.
These positions, and earlier ones with direct marketing and insurance businesses, all related to
Don’s love of trying to make sense out of raw information and transforming it into useful data. This
fascination with data analysis lead, many years ago, to a strong personal interest in foreign
exchange and commodity trading, and the development of portfolio management and trading systems.
The culmination of this interest and experience is the Parabolic Stock Picker, an investment
newsletter. We first use fundamental analysis to screen for financially sound companies whose stock
prices don’t reflect the underlying business prospects. We then employ basic technical analysis to
identify opportune price levels to enter (and exit) the market. The Parabolic Stock Picker is
dedicated to picking small Bargain Growth stocks ready to Go Parabolic!
